This morning I was at the Erawan Waterfalls in Thailand. Even though it was unbearably hot towards the end and I turned back before I had seen all the waterfalls, it was a wonderful experience. More about this when I'm back home and can show you the photos I took today.
With all the stunningly beautiful scenery, it's easy to forget to pay attention to the little things. Especially if it's your first time in a place. Luckily, this beautiful butterfly with the unusual name "Common Rose" (well, to me it looks anything but common flew around me and close to me until he finally had my attention.
Then I just had to chase him until he landed on this stone (probably to get his daily ration of minerals) and then I was able to capture him/her (I don’t know)

Heute vormittag war ich an der Erawan Wasserfällen in Thailand unterwegs. Auch, wenn es gegen Ende hin unerträglich heiß war, und ich darum umgekehrt bin, bevor ich alle Wasserfälle gesehen hatte, war es ein wundervolles Erlebnis. Mehr dazu, wenn ich wieder zu hause bin und Euch die heute entstandenen Foto präsentieren kann.
Bei all der umwerfend schönen Landschaft vergisst Du leicht auch auf die kleinen Dinge zu achten. Vor allem, wenn du das erste Mal an einem Ort bist.
Zum Glück ist mir dieser wunderschöne Schmetterling mit dem ungewöhnlichen Namen "Gewöhnliche Rose" (also für mich sieht der alles andere als gewöhnlich aus - womit wir das Wort jetzt oft genug verwendet hätten) so lange um mich herum und dicht an mir vorbei geflogen, bis er endlich meine Aufmerksamkeit hatte.
Dann musste ich ihn nur noch verfolgen bis er auf diesem Stein gelandet ist (wahrscheinlich, um sich seine Tagesration Mineralien abzuholen) und schon konnte ich sie/ihn (keine Ahnung) für Euch feshalten.

Everyone who follows me on Facebook now knows where I spent the sunrise today because of my video. Namely at the famous bridge on the River Kwai in Kananchaburi in Thailand (for everyone who hasn't done this yet).
After I recorded the video and also had a photo from this side of the river in the camera, I wanted to take a look at the bridge from the other side. You can't imagine how surprised I was when I suddenly saw this sight in front of me as I entered the bridge.
At the beginning I couldn't even tell what that bright light in the middle of the tracks meant. Because I was still much further away and it was still pretty dark. But as I got closer I recognized the dog with the “glowing” face.
Luckily I still had my camera on the tripod, but unfortunately not equipped with my telephoto lens. So I tried to make the most of the 70mm focal length and crept up step by step in slow motion and took photos again and again. Always hoping that the dog would please please not move (and above all not stepping out of the light of the lamps).. Finally, 6 seconds of exposure time were required because of the darkness. This picture was the last in this series.
After this unexpected photo shoot, the guard let me pass without any problems. Apparently I made a pretty harmless impression.

Alle, die mir auf Facebook folgen wissen inzwischen, auf Grund meines Videos, wo ich heute den Sonnenaufgang verbracht habe. Nämlich an der berühmten Brücke am Kwai in Kananchaburi in Thailand (für alle, die das noch nicht tun).
Nachdem ich besagtes Video aufgenommen und auch ein Foto von dieser Seite des Flusses in der Kamera hatte, wollte ich mir die Brücke auch einmal von der anderen Seite aus ansehen.
Ihr könnt Euch nicht vorstellen, wie überrascht ich war, als ich beim Betreten der Brücke plötzlich diesen Anbick vor mir hatte.
Am Anfang konnte ich noch garnicht erkennen, was dieses helle Licht in der Mitte der Gleise zu bedeutet hat. Denn ich war noch deutlich weiter weg und es war ja noch ziemlich dunkel.
Doch als ich näher kam erkannte ich den Hund mit dem "leuchtenden" Gesicht.
Zum Glück hatte ich meine Kamera noch auf dem Stativ, jedoch leider nicht mit meinem Teleobjektiv bestückt. Also versucht ich das Beste aus 70 mm Brennweite zu machen und habe mich in Zeitlupe Schritt für Schritt angeschlichen und immer wieder Fotos gemacht. Immer in der Hoffnung, der Hund möge sich bitte bitte nicht bewegen (und vor allem nicht aus dem Schein der Lampen heraus gehen). Schließlich waren wegen der Dunkelheit 6 Sekunden Belichtungszeit erforderlich. Dieses Bild war des letzte in dieser Reihe.
Nach diesem unerwarteten Fotoshooting hat der Wächter mich dann anstandslos passieren lassen. Scheinbar hab ich einen recht harmlosen Eindruck gemacht.

In case there are any of you who thought I had forgotten the Monday flower greeting. And that's only because I'm a few thousand kilometers away. Then I hope I can pleasantly surprise you with this. As you can see, I even have a real floral fireworks for you.
I have to admit, though, that I was pretty much struck by it. Because today, on the way from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi, I took a break to take a short walk on the edge of a rice field, and suddenly this tree, ablaze with flames, stood in front of me. It was immediately clear to me why my path led me here. Otherwise I might have forgotten it. But so it is my pleasure to wish you all a fiery week. As far as temperatures go, that's pretty certain for mine. It is now night here and it has cooled down to a freezing 30 degrees (Celsius). I guess I'll have to put on a sweater soon.

Für den Fall, daß unter Euch welche gibt, die gedacht haben, ich hätte den montäglichen Blumengruß vergessen. Und das nur, weil ich gerade ein paar tausend Kilometer entfernt bin. Dann darf ich Euch hiermit nhoffentlich angenehm überraschen.
Wie Ihr sehen könnt habe ich sogar ein richtiges Blütenfeuerwerk für Euch.
Ich muss allerdings zugeben, dass ich geradezu darauf gestoßen wurde. Denn als ich heute, auf dem Weg von Bangkok nach Kanchanaburi eine Pause eingelegt habe um einen kurzen Spaziergang am Rande eines Reisfeldes zu unternehmen, stand da plötzlich dieser lichterloh in Flammen stehende Baum vor mir.
Da war mir sofort klar, warum mich mein Weg genau hier her geführt hat. Sonst hätte ich das womöglich vergessen.
Doch so ist es mir eine Freude Euch allen eine feurige Woche zu wünschen. Was die Temperaturen anbelangt ist das für die meinige ja schon ziemlich sicher. Hier ist es jetzt Nacht und es hat sich auf geradezu frostige 30 Grad abgekühlt. Ich muss mir wohl mal einen Pullover überziehen.

Yesterday evening it was still relatively tranquil here in Bangkok. But today I really threw myself into the fray. After looking at the palace and several temples during the day (photos will follow another time), I ended the day in Chinatown. The two most important findings of the day were, on the one hand, that this city is incredibly energetic. Anyone looking for peace and relaxation will have difficulties here. And on the other hand, I discovered that there are places on earth where you sweat significantly more than in a Finnish sauna. I don't think I've ever been as drenched in sweat in my life as I am today. This is really hard to believe. Sometimes you have the impression that you are breathing liquid air. Nevertheless, it was a very successful day.

Gestern Abend war es ja noch einigermaßen beschaulich hier in Bangkok. Doch heute habe ich mich richtig ins Getümmel gestürzt.
Nachdem ich mir tagsüber den Palast und mehrere Tempel angesehen habe (Fotos folgen ein ander mal) habe ich den Tag in Chinatown ausklingen lassen.
Die zwei wichtigsten Erkenntnisse des Tages waren zum einen, dass diese Stadt unfassbar energiereich ist. Wer also auf der Suche nach Ruhe und Entspannung ist, wird hier seine Schwierigkeiten bekommen.
Und zum anderen habe ich festgestellt, dass es Orte auf der Erde gibt, an denen man deutlich mehr schwitzt als in einer finnischen Sauna. Ich glaube ich war noch nie in meinem Leben so schweißgebaded, wie heute. Das ist wirklich kaum zu glauben. Manchmal hat man hier den Eindruck, man würde flüssige Luft atmen.
Trotzdem war es ein sehr gelungener Tag.

After I had to rest a bit when I arrived in Bangkok (more than 12 hours of travel time doesn't leave me completely unscathed), I set off again and explored the area around my apartment a little. At 30 degrees Celsius (at night!!!) and 100% humidity, I worked up a sweat.
In addition to my first Thai meal (which I really enjoyed, by the way), I also took my first photo in this context. It certainly won't win any awards, but it gives a pretty good impression of what it looks like here at night.

Nachdem ich bei meiner Ankunft in Bangkok erst einmal etwas ausruhen musste (mehr als 12 Stunden Reisezeit gehen halt nicht ganz spurlos an mir vorüber), bin ich nochmal los und habe ein wenig die Gegend um mein Appartment herum erkundet.
Bei 30 Grad (Nachts !!!) und 100 % Luftfeuchtigkeit bin ich dabei ganz schön ins Schwitzen gekommen.
Neben meiner ersten thailändischen Mahlzeit (die mir übrigens sehr gut geschmeckt hat) hab ich in diesem Zusammenhang auch mein erstes Foto gemacht. Es wird jetzt bestimmt keinen Preis gewinnen, doch es vermittelt einen ziemlich guten Eindruck, wie es hier nachts so aussieht.
