This image is a humble homage for the famous Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado. For anyone who does not know this personality I recommend watching the movie “The Salt of the Earth” directed and produced by Juliano Ribeiro Salgado and Wim Wenders. It portraits Salgado’s biography which at the same time shows everyone’s struggle to understand human’s contradictions when it comes to human interactions and conservatism.

Taken at the volcanic beach at Stokksnes in southeasterm Iceland close to sunset. Not an easy subject to be photographed so close to the surf as sooner then later a bigger wave ended up dumping a huge deal of water in my boots.

Racetrack Playa is located centrally to the Death Valley and yet a place not that easy to be reached. The recommendations given by the park rangers are to have a high clearance, 4x4 car with preferentially 2 spare tires. This road is known to have some sharp stones which slices tires easily.
In the beginning I was quite careless about such recommendations and drove to this place with my Mini Cooper! The twenty six miles of dirt road to get there are gruelsome, but once you get there your senses get captured by its vastness, emptiness, complete silence and the feeling that you got to the end of the world. On top of all you will be rewarded by a unique natural happening. The rocks that wander …
Yes, I got back safely on the next day without any tire issues. However, I would not recommend anyone to repeat my naiveness. In the meantime I have a Jeep Rubicon, lifted by additional 3 inches to get me to places like this.

The temple complex of Angkor is very close to the town of Siem Reap.

According to oral tradition, the name was given by King Ang Chan (1516–1566) as “Siem Reap”, meaning “the flat defeat of Siam” (Cambodians call Siam or Thailand “Siem”). It was because of Ang Chan's victory against a Siamese invasion, slaying Prince Ong, and capturing no less than 10,000 Siamese troops.

Walking through the complex of Angkor gives a faint idea of the wealth and power of the kings who ruled in these times.
