Racetrack Playa is located centrally to the Death Valley and yet a place not that easy to be reached. The recommendations given by the park rangers are to have a high clearance, 4x4 car with preferentially 2 spare tires. This road is known to have some sharp stones which slices tires easily.
In the beginning I was quite careless about such recommendations and drove to this place with my Mini Cooper! The twenty six miles of dirt road to get there are gruelsome, but once you get there your senses get captured by its vastness, emptiness, complete silence and the feeling that you got to the end of the world. On top of all you will be rewarded by a unique natural happening. The rocks that wander …
Yes, I got back safely on the next day without any tire issues. However, I would not recommend anyone to repeat my naiveness. In the meantime I have a Jeep Rubicon, lifted by additional 3 inches to get me to places like this.
