Patagonia is the epitome of wilderness untamed. Jagged, glorious granite spires, with breathtaking elevation gains of up to 3 km, dipping in and out of rapidly changing cloud cover, in a primal struggle between light and darkness. Patagonia is challenging to photograph, the mountains can be hidden for days, but when they clear, the beauty is unmatched. The glorious Fitz Roy mountain range in Argentinian Patagonia emerges from the clouds, as strong winds put an end to a cloudy, overcast morning.

The wide angle lens is the most often used, but also misused, lens in landscape photography. This image: It was one of those scenes I will never forget. We had hiked down into a deep lying river valley and then back up a steep ridge, when we were treated to the spectacle of fast moving rain showers which swept over spotlit black mountain ranges and outcrops, towering over the distant tundra. We found ourselves in one of the most breathtakingly dramatic landscapes, and experienced amazing scenes, but for me this definitely was the most memorable. The Peel Watershed, Yukon Territory, Canada.
