At 2281 m (7486 ft) the upper terminal of the Banff Gondola sightseeing lift also has the full-service Panorama Restaurant, self-serve Summit Café, 360° observation decks and the Sanson’s Peak boardwalk all offering incredible views. The vista includes Banff townsite, Cascade and Rundle Mountains, the Bow River, Lake Minnewanka, and The Fairmont Banff Springs hotel and golf course as well as a resident herd of bighorn sheep. Both restaurants offer tables by huge windows; the Panorama also has soft lounge seats.

Sound appealing? Easy to spend a full day here hiking, dining and just soaking in all the grandeur all around you.

Next we hit the boardwalk and head for Sanson Peak. Thanks for hiking along.

A mono version of a favorite view. Taken from the top of Sulphur Mountain looking up the Bow River Valley.

When in Banff I highly recommend riding the Sulphur Mtn gondola. The 360 degree view up top are breathtaking.

A few more shots below:

Have a marvelous Monday!

A view to the left of my last shot from the top of Sanson Peak.

The Bow River and TransCanada highway lies below on their way to Banff.

I was blessed with a rather nice day.

Thanks for taking a look and for your comments, faves and suggestions!

Continuing on our Sulphur Mountain Gondola series.

This is our destination, the top of Sanson Peak, looking east.

The length of Mt. Rundle is impressive. Yet it's character and form is completely different on it's eastern face, when one heads for Canmore. One of my favorite massif's.

Thanks for bearing with me as I share this special place with you. Six images left till I move onto other subjects.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Your adventure begins with an eight minute journey to the summit of Sulphur Mountain in a modern, fully-enclosed four passenger gondola cabin. The views become increasingly spectacular as you climb 698m (2,292 ft) to an elevation of 2,281m (7,486 ft) at the Summit Upper Terminal – the departure point for a mountaintop of activities.

The rates went up a dollar for 2014, to $35.95 per adult. Fairly expen$ive but so worth it, IMHO. The gondola's run year-round.

I'll be posting views from the top next.

Thanks again for taking a look, and for any comments or suggestions.
