Looking at Cascade Mountain from the sign display at the Banff Gondola parking lot. Cascade is 1 of the 2 iconic peaks that surround Banff, Mt. Rundle being the other.

The mountain was named in 1858 by James Hector after the waterfall or cascade on the southern flanks of the peak. Before that it had been called Stoney Chief.

Enjoy a wonderful Spring (or autumn for my friends down under) weekend!

Looking over the Banff Springs Hotel and the Bow River Valley. In the distance Lake Minnewanka nestles between Mt. Aylmer and Mt. Inglismaldie . Mt. Aylmer is in the Palliser Range and Mt. Inglismaldie in the Fairholme Range. Taken from Sulphur mountain.

Your comments, faves and suggestions are always appreciated.

Enjoy a wonderful Wednesday!

The view looking east from Sulphur Mountain at Banff and the winding Bow River.
Cascade Mountain to the left and Lake Minnewanka with the Palliser and Fairholme ranges in the distance. Hard to beat this view.

At 2281 m (7486 ft) the upper terminal of the Banff Gondola sightseeing lift also has the full-service Panorama Restaurant, self-serve Summit Café, 360° observation decks and the Sanson’s Peak boardwalk all offering incredible views. The vista includes Banff townsite, Cascade and Rundle Mountains, the Bow River, Lake Minnewanka, and The Fairmont Banff Springs hotel and golf course as well as a resident herd of bighorn sheep. Both restaurants offer tables by huge windows; the Panorama also has soft lounge seats.

Sound appealing? Highly recommended when one is in Banff. Boy am I overdue for a return.....

A few more shots from up here in comments.

Happy Friday!
