My brother Bill and my father in the yard of our former home in Bremerton, Washington. We lived there from 1969 to 1972, and returned together in 2004.

The only surviving XF8U-1 Crusader prototype, in restoration for the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington. One other prototype was built, but it was scrapped.

This aircraft is BuNo 138899, which became the first Crusader to fly on March 25, 1955.

A good summary of the Crusader's development can be found in "Early Supersonic Fighters of the West," by Bill Gunston, published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1975. Although it's an old book, it is not difficult to find through used book dealers.

I took this photo in June 2004 during a visit to the museum's restoration facility at Paine Field (PAE) in Everett, Washington.

First Boeing 727 airliner, a 727-22. This aircraft, N7001U, was used for certification trials and then turned over to United Airlines which operated it until 1991.

In June 2004, I had an opportunity to examine the exterior and interior of this historic aircraft at the Museum of Flight's restoration facility. The facility is located at Paine Field (PAE) in Everett, Washington.
