This was captured in the Norwegian mountains exactly one year ago. Moving water is one of my favorite photographic inspirations. The sea is wonderful and the more movement the better. A little creek or a small river in the highlands is different. The movements are pretty much predictable. More or less water in the flow decides the pattern. It allows for more careful compositions. In contrast you may end up shooting 100 photos by the sea and no one really comes out right.

I guess what attracted me to this composition was the classic parabolic waterfall - seen so many times - yet so intrinsically beautiful - as seen here in a completely different scale.

It was already late in the day and light was scarce. The air was fresh and the fall season had started to dominate the landscape. I hope you can "hear" the sound of the falling water.

Back home I went back and forth on the processing of this capture. I originally had a more contrast rich interpretation but ended up with this. It has less punch but more details and to me it brought forward the right memories of the smoothness of the water and the dim light.

Available for purchase at redbubble.

Another long exposure from a stone beach along the west coast of the Oslofjord. This fabulous black stone is for some reason almost flat in contrast to all the other round shaped rocks on the beach.

Magdalenafjorden is situated on the north west side of Spitsbergen - the largest island in the Svalbard archipelago. It is very close to 80 degrees north.

We arrived in the morning and looking out we saw heavy clouds and snow. Then, as we entered into the fjord, the sun broke through and mountains were covered by a thin layer of fresh snow.

You will most likely find grand panoramas from this fabulous location. I, however, opted for a tele to get closer to the mountains and their layers of muted colors and textures.

Enjoy this in 4K but please respect the license. All rights reserved.

I haven't taken a decent photograph for weeks. Most of the time I am either working or traveling. In the evening after work it is too dark and when traveling my gear is too heavy to bring along. My Flickr time is primarily spend administrating PPro. I haven't been able to follow up any contacts lately ("so sorry!" as they say in Japan). Finally I have ordered two new lenses which have still to be delivered over a month after ordering them - so much for online shopping...

I am almost ashamed of posting something like this but I though: why not post something like an update in a blog? It is captured with a rather dated mobile phone with probably the worst digital camera I have used. Awful resolution, noise ratio and color balance...

So take this as a study of composition and a token of increasing desperation. It is a "Driving Home For Christmas" shot of what I found to be a beautiful moment in time and an interesting compositional opportunity. So the photographer in me grabbed the gear he had available...

But, as they say in the movies: "I'll be back!.

This is the second take on a scene found in a fascinating small canyon in the Ennert Wald outside of Bonn in Germany. It is situated close to a cliff which makes it exposed to some strong winds from time to time. The foreground shows trees that have fallen down due to heavy storms and I found the contrast between tehse and the living trees in the background to be visually interesting.

Thanks for your kind feedback.
