Experimenting with the Voigtlaender Avus and some X-ray film. The Avus has a double extension, which allows for close ups. Anastigmat Skopar lens on f9 for 1/5 sec.

I've been asked to photograph one or two 3D printers in the store (where btw my little exhibition seems to draw some positive reactions). The idea is to make the modern 3D printers look old, and use real dark room prints for the images.

I was checking the capabilities of the Avus/Xray film combination for this purpose today. My conclusions so far:
- I'll use regular film instead of Xray, it is more controllable
- I'll use the Schneider lens which came with the camera instead of the Skopar, because of sharpness and because it will allow me to use a cable release

Taken by my "new" 9x12 cm plate camera, a Voigtlander Avus, ca. 1930. Skopar anastigmat lens, 135mm/f5.6, on green sensitive X-ray film with yellow filter. A bit compensation during scanning, no post-processing at all.

I got an amazing deal I couldn't resist: this camera in pristine condition, the Skopar lens on a perfect Compur shutter, a Schneider 150mm lens on a good polaroid shutter, 3 film holders, a 6x9 cm roll film back, and some film. :-)))

The only problem is with the cable release adapter on the Skopar: it broke off due to metal fatigue the moment I started working with it, but with a good tripod I'll manage manually.

I almost forgot about this 35mm shot. Shame on me, because I use its big sister (shot on Mamiya C220) regularly.

This print was a nice experiment in the darkroom, because the negative was very flat and thin. I have increased the contrast by turning the red filter knob on my Durst colour head all the way up. Too much? And just a bit of dodging on the sheep.

Fomabrom 111 in Adox WA warmtone developer. Selenium 1+9 for ca. 2 min.
