Not a very good photo, but I was trying to see how many dogs I could fit in the frame. I count thirteen, but one is just the paws.

Everythings going well, Beaver's been a perfect fit for our family
We've been walking him 2x a day and he's great on a leash . He's very mellow, i think more then i had thought he would be. He's been really good with the kids and my 6 year old absolutly adores him. She helps me feed him, gives him treats, and even picks up the poop (thats impressive). I've been brushing him alot cause he really is a big shedder! The only thing i'm kind of concerned about is he's had diarrhea for a few days now. I'm not totally worried just yet because it could be alot of different things. Stress, change of food, maybe even the bird he ate. I will see how he is tomorrow.
He's a big sweetie!

Beaver gets a good-bye kiss from Salty Dog.
I fostered Beaver for six months, he was rescued from the Fairbanks Animal Shelter by the Second Chance League. Now he has been united with a great family in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I really grew to love the big gentle boy, but this is a good move for him!
The picture is out of focus, but oh well.

Meet Beaver. He was adopted by a family in Alberta Canada in early August 2008.
Beaver is one of my foster dogs, saved by the Second Chance League, a Fairbanks rescue group dedicated to finding homes for cast off sled dogs. He is a really great dog! Very social with other dogs and humans - a big lover! He's a big husky, really too big at around 70 lbs to fit in well with my dog team.

He loves walks, works hard and listens well, off and on the leash. He comes when he's called! He is not housebroken. He's about 8 years old we think, so it may be difficult to find him a home, but he truly deserves one.

He began as a trapline dog in the Brooks Range of Alaska, and then became a freighter for mountain climbers at Mt. McKinley (Denali). Apparently he wasn't strong enough for that activity, so he was deposited (to put it nicely) at the local shelter.

You can read more about him and see some more pics (and other adoptable sleddogs) at the link above.

If you were really serious about giving him a forever home you can contact me or the Second Chance League. I'd love to find him a family that would give him more than I can. I have two other SCL dogs that I have officially adopted and they are great.

SCL has placed Fairbanks Shelter dogs throughout the Lower 48 and Canada too.
