This photo of an immature White-crowned sparrow was taken with a new camera (Z8) but a very old lens, a Tamron 500mm mirror lens I bought during the 1980s. It is MUCH harder to get good photos with this technology, but it can be done.

I glanced out my kitchen window and saw this Red-shouldered hawk (Buteo lineatus) on the porch railing of the house across the street. I reached up to the counter and took a few shots through the window. It flew away before I could even attempt to go outside to get closer. These two photos have now become another in my series of Birds Sideways and Facing Forward.
This is a screenshot of the two photos I shared on Facebook.
