I was sitting on my patio bench when this Eastern towhee came to take a bath. It was a long one.
The other birds singing are a Northern cardinal, an American robin and, at the very end, a Red-bellied woodpecker.

Lots of flowers have started blooming. It’s such a glorious time of year! this is one of my favorites, bearded iris Germanica 'Alcazar' (Vilmorin, 1910). It started out as a single rhizome from a Flickr friend back in 2006, and now I’m graced with a couple of dozen. They don’t all bloom at the same time and some don’t bloom every year, but they lend a delicate fragrance to the entrance to my house.You will see more photos of them as I take them. I cannot resist exploring their intricacies.
