One of the really fine aspects of visiting coastal Mexico is the almost constant presence of large numbers of Magnificent frigatebirds soaring overhead, often virtually motionless. After the total solar eclipse on April 8 there was an evening of celebration at the Dreams Estrella del Mar Mazatlan. Those enjoying a pre-dinner glass of wine were treated to an amazing sunset, followed by a spectacular buffet dinner, a dance performance, and a socko fireworks display.

This Willet has surprised a crab on the beach near the Dreams Estrella del Mar Mazatlan Resort, where we stayed to view the total solar eclipse on April 8. But wouldn't you know it, this time the crab sidestepped its way back into the ocean, making its escape!

These birds flew by over the sea as we enjoyed life on the lounge chairs of the Dreams Estrella del Mar all-inclusive resort in Mazatlan.

We took a long walk down the beach in front of the Dreams Estrella del Mar resort in Mazatlan. There was a very busy and vociferous pair of oystercatchers working the area.
