What could be a better way to spend an evening than shooting light trails in my favourite city? The bollards on the right of the image were not very photo friendly and I tried to compose as best as possible using them as lead in lines. Those were installed by the Metropolitan Police as security barriers after a terrorist attack on Westminster Bridge, near the Houses of Parliament, in 2017.

An epic shoot with a remarkable photographer, Andrew G Robertson. What he doesn’t know about photography is probably not worth knowing. An incredibly skilled, highly experienced, and humble professional. But don’t take my word for it, check his photostream and find out for yourselves.

Technical detail (for whoever is interested):

Nikon D750, 24-120 f/4.0 lens @24mm
ISO100
8 seconds
Gitzo tripod, and …. Hope.

Have a most wonderful weekend, Flickrites!

Cornwall is one of those places I can happily return to two-three times a year, photograph at the same location and achieve different results. I am not sure what I like about Cornwall the most. Is it its rugged beaches, dramatic coastline, rolling countryside or charming fishing villages. Perhaps it is a combination of all. And, of course, let us not forget the Cornish people, who are legendary in their hospitality. I was lucky to meet one of them (you know who you are :-)

Botallack is one of my favourite locations in Cornwall and no wonder. Where else will you find engine houses perched on rocky cliffs, just above the ocean? The lighting can make a huge difference to the mood, which is generally the case, but high tide is a must. And a walk on the Ledge of Doom.

"Real friends are the ones you can count on, no matter what;
The ones who go into the forest to find you and bring you home;
Real friends never have to tell you that they're your friends"

In the far west of England, dipping its toe into the Atlantic, lies the Land of Cornwall. Both its rich history and outstanding landscape are romantic and indeed it has been the scene of a few TV dramas. Poldark comes to mind.

The sun didn’t play ball in this early morning shoot, but as it is in so many occasions in Cornwall, it all started to change and provided a few opportunities with a subject I do not need to introduce. This historic castle, perched on a rocky hill, remains one of my favourite locations.

A fab day shooting with three inspirational photographers.

There are those special times that everything works out. The location is ace, the exact angle, the weather gods play ball. It was one of those times. An hour or so just before sunset, the rays hit the rock and I was only too happy to record that moment. I was so engrossed in shooting that I was oblivious to a tourist hanging behind me, copying every composition with his mobile phone.

Then he asked me: “how do you get the water to be so smooth”? I decided against trying to explain the use of filters, so I just said “magic”. He nodded his head in appreciation and said, “you are a professional”. I didn’t want to spoil the illusion, so I just smiled back.
