final bit of the how to instructions on this Kato High Rise...
This is the final building I stayed with. I still need to detail the roof of the smaller building but I like how it ended up.
As you can see the building on the left ,the 5 story building, is reversed from the taller 15 story building. I did this because all the Kato and Tomix buildings of this nature all have the elevator windows on the left side of the building. In one building that's fine but in multiple and multiple buildings it looks bad and very repetative.
I turned this building upside down to bring the elevator windows next the same windows on the taller building. so that they are mirror of each other. It's not perfect but I did this by adding an extra roof section to the top of the base section. the problem with this is the roof doesn't have the extra material to cover the frontage like the normal 2nd floor section does. This is why I kept a piece of the material I had cut off from one of the 2nd floor sections. I ended up gluing it to the bottom of the roof section to cover the inset base section. It actually fit in perfect and blened all the gutter lines and looks really good.
In order for the roof to fit on the base section you need to shave off some extra materail on the lip as it's to thick to fit in place. Similar to how I shaved the front lip of the 2nd floor section to fit in with the other floors.
Once the roof was now glued into the base section the regular floor sections fit perfectly upside down into the roof section as that's how the fit in the roof section normally. Also by adding the roof section to the floor base it brings the windows up a little bit. This allows the elevator windows to almost be perfectly aligned but the regualer retangular windows are off a little bit. How ever I don't mind this too much. To me it gives the two buildings a little bit of individuality.
I also added an elevator machine room on the roof of the taller building. This was one of the extra elevator machine rooms from the tomix building. I'll be adding one of these to the smaller building too, but not until I detail it first.
Well that's the most of it. I hope you n scaler city modelers out there enjoy these. I have been asked to post how to photos by people.
In a favor back, feel free to comment on my photos. :D
All the best in your versions of these buildings. Kit bashing is always fun.

To reduce the light transfer between floors I painted the bottom of each floor a Medium Gray colour. I actually gave these two coats. On the office building on the left of the final product the roof is actually the floor so I ended up painting the roof of those pieces gray. I'll explain why I did that in the final product photo.

First thing I did is I bought a huge sheet of double black card paper. I cut multiple lengths to be fitted for each floor on a diagonal. There is a small slot in each corner and if you cut the pieces of paper right the fit perfectly in the two slots and you cant see a seem in through the front or side window.

You can see how these building can look once taller.
You can also notice that the building on the left is darker and looks more real than the building on the right. The plastic on the top of each floor is quite transparent and the fact that there are a lot of windows in each floor it lights up and you can see a yellow plastic look inside the building. To complete the look on the building on the left I'll explain what I did in the following photos.
I some of my buildings I've not blacked them out. I have actually place people in windows etc. In one of my office buildings on the top floor I actually created a board room with chairs etc. But that is one of my taller buildings and For these I just wanted a black glass office look.
