El Capitan, Cathedral Rocks, and Bridalveil Falls reflected on the Merced River at Valley View. I shot this in the mid afternoon following several days of clear blue skies (I was getting desperate, and nothing is worse than boring clear blue skies!). I was leaving the park the next day, so when I saw the clouds finally move into Yosemite Valley, I took every opportunity to reshoot the iconic places with something in the sky! The harsh daytime contrast and the graphical clouds made for a rather good monochrome image.

Canada geese take off from a mostly frozen pond in response to an approaching bipedal carrying what appeared to be a threatening tube that it kept pointing at them. In the background are the White Rocks cliffs, made up of Fox Hills sandstone, remnant deposits from the shores of an ancient ocean, and Twin Sisters and Longs Peak (mostly covered by clouds) in Rocky Mountain National Park.
