On average March is our snowiest month and, so far, it has lived up to it. At our place in central Colorado March has, to date, delivered about 30 inches! In other parts of the state much more has accumulated. Most importantly, the snowpack is looking pretty good statewide!

These are the two highest points of elevation in the Rocky Mountain Range of North America. Mt Elbert (left) at 14,440" and Mt Massive (right) at 14,428'.
These two mountains are not the highest from their base, not even close. Many people do not realize how high in elevation Colorado is in general. The lowest point in the state is still 3315' above sea level located east along the Colorado-Kansas State line.
The mountain ranges of Colorado all rise from a high elevation base.

Sunrise "blue hour" on this first full day of spring. It didn't feel or look like spring. It was really cold this morning with a heavy snow cover. Spring usually arrives in April... or May... or June. March - mid-May is our snowiest time of the year.
