Foto scattata in uno dei più freddi 25 d'Aprile che ricordi. La tempesta, alla fine, si è diradata con il soffio di un vento impetuoso.

The Mischabel range (Wallis/Switzerland) seen from Monte Moro pass (2.930m), on the border with Italy. The Mischabel mountains are the third highest massif in the Alps (4.545m at the summit of Mount Dom) after Monte Bianco and Monte Rosa. The name Mischabel comes from an ancient German word meaning Pitchfork. This image was taken while skiing in the Italian Monte Moro resort, after the huge snow falls of late March.

Il massiccio dei Mischabel (Vallese/Svizzera) visto dal passo del Monte Moro, al confine con l'Italia. I Mischabel sono il terzo gruppo più alto delle Alpi (4.545 m alla vetta del Monte Dom) dopo il Monte Bianco e il Monte Rosa. Il nome Mischabel deriva da un'antica parola tedesca che significa forcone. Questa immagine è stata scattata mentre sciavo nel comprensorio del Monte Moro, dopo le abbondanti nevicate di fine marzo.

And here it is, too late, the snow...
When General winter should have shaken the hand of Miss Spring, He drew instead the sword.
After a long dry season, the first weeks of March brought the snow you could expect from an entire winter. And we are back to views we were about to think were going to become only memories.
From the ski pistes of Monte Moro pass, view toward the giant East face of Monte Rosa, 4.634m.
The East face of Monte Rosa is the biggest iced wall of the Alps, with an height of 2,400m and a width of 3,600m.
The building in the foreground is an old, abandoned bar/restaurant. On these south facing slopes, the days you can ski are getting fewer and fewer and nobody wants to run the business of this small bar anymore.

Ed eccola qui, troppo tardi, la neve...
Quando il Generale Inverno avrebbe dovuto stringere la mano a Miss Primavera, sguainò invece la spada.
Dopo l'ennesimo inverno di siccità, le prime settimane di marzo hanno portato la neve che ci si poteva aspettare da un intero inverno.
Dalle piste da sci del Passo del Monte Moro, vista verso la gigantesca parete est del Monte Rosa.
La Parete Est del Monte Rosa è la più grande delle Alpi, con un'altezza di 2.400m e una larghezza fino a 3.600m.
L'edificio in primo piano è un vecchio bar. Quì le piste sono rivolte a sud, e le giornate in cui si può sciare si accorciano di anno in anno, quindi nessuno vuole più gestire l'attività di questo piccolo ristoro.

After many weeks, I
took my 9 years old boy on the mountains for a ski day.
This is Monte Cervandone from the pistes of Alpe Devero.
This imposing mountain is the only site housing a rare mineral:

Dopo molte settimane, I
ho portato mio figlio di 9 anni in montagna per una giornata sugli sci.
Questo è il Monte Cervandone dalle piste dell'Alpe Devero.
Questa imponente montagna è l'unico sito che ospita un minerale raro, la Cervandonite (link sopra)
