Just over a month after seeing a total solar eclipse for the first time, I was able to see and photograph the aurora borealis. Friday night was cloudy and rainy, so I didn't even bother going out. Saturday night was clear so I found a location away from the city lights and headed out shortly before midnight. When I first arrived, I saw nothing in sky. I was feeling like it was a waste of time. But since I was there, I stuck it out. Finally, I saw though the camera faint green color on the horizon. Gradually, the colors improved. This shot was a little before the colors were at their peak, but I lucked out and captured a meteor during the 30 second exposure.
