Liked the combination of the Anhinga and the old weathered tree in this scene. He didn’t stick around for long and went on his merry way. Photo was taken on Armand Bayou.

Someone’s escaped pet is trying to survive in the wild and was visiting a tree on the side of the bayou in the second horseshoe bend on Horsepen Bayou. Gary told the name of the bird and it is forever lost in this old brain. Not only that, the old brain deleted the email with the name of the bird in it as well. Hope Gary can come through with an ID again.

Not the best shot for me, but definitely a first for me. Caught this Scissor-tailed Flycatcher perched high in the trees on Horsepen Bayou. Too bad this one wasn’t as cooperative as my Green Heron buddies as it departed the area as I approached. Still enjoyed seeing something different along the banks of the bayou.

A very rare Boat-tailed Grackle Heron fishing near the edge of Armand at Bay Area Park. Well OKAY!!! Maybe it’s just a Boat-tailed Grackle instead and maybe it’s a female. It was in the water…and it was trying to take a bath…until I frightened it away. I must admit that I did get a pretty decent shot at it, but desperately wanted a shot at a male. I hope I got the ID right ‘cause I’m pretty bad at doing that sort of thing. They were all just black birds on the farm.
