Sorry for being absent for so long without an explanation and will try to give everyone an update.

Hope there’s a bit of humor locked away within this photo as well. I thought I saw a beast approaching from the left side of the photo and preparing to devour the observation platform in this scene. I do have a somewhat vivid imagination from time to time. Maybe you’ll see something different.

I’ve not logged on to Flickr much in the past as I have been occupied with several things around the house. I am now into the second month of my three-week project to rid my home of some termite damage that occurred prior to covid. I was not able to schedule the construction because of the problems that my wife was experiencing and so I had put it off. In a strange twist of circumstances, the insurance company contacted me about a week after Georgia’s passing and wanted to begin the work. I also have to add that the damage to the structure of the home was far greater than what they had anticipated that increased the amount of work that needed to be done.

Took them a while to begin, but we are no approaching two months with the work. I must also confess that the drawn-out schedule is not all their fault. I managed to have another run in with Covid and so 10 days were spent in quarantine for me and the construction crews could not come in to work on the repairs. I also ran into another issue with vertigo which happened in the middle of the night. Vertigo is not something you want to experience in your home when plastic dust barriers are hung everywhere throughout the house. It was a challenge trying to walk around like a drunk person without ripping all of the barriers down, but I managed to get through a couple of days before everything returned to normal.

Enough of the obstacles that I’ve managed to get around. I spoke to the construction manager today and we are looking at a completion date of July 5. I’m not holding my breath until all is said and done.

Sorry that I’ll not be able to comment until after that time. I desperately need to get away and do some paddling by myself and am to the point where I just might leave the camera at home as well and just go out to get away. I know it’s brutally hot out, but maybe some early morning trips just to get away are in order. I might also just pack up and head out for a much-needed vacation as well.

Wishing everyone all the best. Have a marvelous week.
No need to comment but I’ll leave the comment box on.
Peace

I’m quite sure that this particular owns a White Dodge Ram truck that’s all jacked up with GiHugic tires on it and has a sticker on the back window that says No Fear. He wasn’t afraid of me. Snowy Egret captured on the dock at Bay Area Park on Armand Bayou.
Repairs to the house and the new fence were interrupted today by a huge storm. I’m fine by the a few neighbors are still without power. They did complete the framing on the shower, but it was messy since they did most of it as the rain was falling.

I'm working on it and will eventually get to everyone's photos. Have a wonderful week.

Nothing like a power failure to complete the day. It's a bit late and will attempt to catch up tomorrow.

The clouds and some rain have F I N A L L Y returned to Texas. We have been extremely dry and in desperate need of rain. While on my way home last night from dinner, I noticed a beautiful flow to the clouds, but have to admit that I only caught the tail of the greater picture. This is the sunset from El. Franco Lee Park last night.

I also have to admit to being a bit distracted with some MAJOR repairs being done to the house. Both bathrooms including one shower were destroyed by termites that the company failed to discover, but I was fortunate to have the insurance and luckily for me, the damages are covered and not coming out of my pocket.
They started replacing the fence today, so things are in a bit of an upset state and I’ll try to get to everyone’s photos directly.

Wishing everyone a pleasant week ahead. Take care.

This is another species on the bayou that is quite common and always fun to photograph. They can become focused on hunting and completely disregard what is going on around them. As long as you don’t make any sudden moves (requires moving in very slow motion) they’ll continue to forage. I pulled up to the bank on bayou a number of years ago had one jump up on the gunwales of the canoe and right over to the other side. It never missed a beat and continued to search for food. The have some beautiful colors as well. Little Blue Heron photographed on Horsepen Bayou.

Absolutely no way to approach across this great divide of water and not be detected. A young lady keeps a watchful eye of her fawn as well as the approaching canoe. Always ready to sound the alarm to flee if I get too close. The water was shallow in this part of the bayou and really no way to get closer and so a distant shot will have to suffice. Photo taken on Horsepen Bayou and lifted from the archives.

Still working on the comments and will get there eventually. Wishing everyone a wonderful close to their week. Enjoy.
