I'm not much of a flower expert, but I could not help but take a picture of this beautiful lily in my back yard. At the time, I only had my Canon 1000D and a 55-250 kit lens. This may have been the sharpest image I ever took with that combination.
I was really drawn in to the detail in the leaves and the incredible amount of pollen on the center portion. Most of the bees were as well and I quickly had to leave the area after taking this shot.

While out hiking in the summer of 2009, I saw this amazing sunflower. I couldn't resist shooting it with a shallow DOF - it was so fun to see the pattern just "disappear" out the back.

Nymphaea alba is better known as the white water lily. Is anyone else ready for spring? This was taken in Point Pelee National Park near Windsor, Ontario. More information about this flower and the park are below.
The park is best known for its annual bird and butterfly migrations - but if you go, be sure to check out the board walk. It's great.
