Daar is-ie, zei een struise dame in gebloemde zomerjurk stralend vanonder haar blauwe zonnehoed, toen de nieuwe tram van Luik op een halte arriveerde. Het werd zo te zien haar eerste rit. Ze zou als jong meisje ook nog in de oude tram gezeten kunnen hebben.

Het bovenleidingloze stuk door de binnenstad loopt deels door verschillende straten per richting. Hier rijdt de tram vanuit de Rue de la Cité het deel van de Maaskade op dat La Batte heet. Elke zondag is hier een grote markt en dan gaat de tram in beide richtingen door een andere straat - hetzelfde wat de oude tramlijn deed die tot 1963 hierlangs reed

There it is, a handsome lady in a long floral summer dress said happily from under her blue sun hat, when the new Liege tram arrived at the stop. It seemed to be her first trip with it. Possibly she could have taken the old trams of the city when she was a child.

The overhead-less part of the line in the centre of the city follows different streets in both directions. Here the tram emerges from Rue de La Cité to enter the quay along river Meuse called La Batte. Every Sunday this is the location of a large street market, so the new tram copies the behaviour of the old tram route running through exactly the same streets until its demise in 1963, by taking a parallel street in both directions

De oude tunnel onder de Elbe in Hamburg bestaat uit twee buizen en dateert uit 1911. De smalle rijbaan in het midden wordt alleen nog door fietsers gebruikt. Tot enkele jaren geleden, toen een renovatie begon, mochten er ook auto's door. Maar om in en uit de tunnel te komen is wel een 'ritje' met een van de liften nodig, dus groot is de verkeerscapaciteit nooit geweest
