For the past 5 years I have been visiting the Redwood national forest in the hope of capturing this scene again.
Having made my way to the forest at 5.30 am I was delighted to wander through the mystic fog for about 4 hours after which other priorities like hunger surfaced and the digestive juices overtook the creative ones. Realizing I have never created good pics on an empty stomach I made my way to the Requa Inn. After a hearty breakfast of their famous homemade granola/yogurt. toast with homemade blueberry jam, scrambled eggs with herbs and seasoning, green smoothie and two cups of coffee I was ready to return to the forest. I had hiked the entire Damnation creek trail the day before and knew where to expect the beams to show up if the sun emerged from the overcast sky. An hour or so after I returned for a very brief period the sun poked through..and when it did I was ready. Hope you like this rendition. It comes after 5 years of trying ...so when people ask how do you always manage to be at the right place at the right time..I smile and say..I guess someone up there loves me. And now you know the truth :)
