Arguably the most revered site in Orsomarso, Our Lady of Lourdes or the Grotta della Madonna di Lourdes is a centennial tribute to first sighting at Lourdes installed it the cave in October 1958 by 10 workmen of the sculptor Plinio Frigo and one ingenious local Vittorio Paulon. The statue is 3m high 1500kg/3300lb carved from a single piece of the Iberian mountains near the sculptors studio in Vincenza, besides all the transport issues to get it here it had to have its own cable car built to install it in this beautiful location. With most of the city center occupied in a large wedding and weather being beautiful we said goodbye to Orsomarso and headed to take advantage of the pool at our hotel in Diamante hoping it would live up to its jewel of a name.
I took this on Sept 24th 2023 with my D850 and Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 G2 Lens at 50mm, 1/50s, f8 ISO 160 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia ,Topaz, and DXO
