Inside an abandoned building at Eleousa.

During the Italian occupation of Rhodes four agricultural villages were founded and populated by Italian settlers. Eleousa was founded 1935-6 as Profitis Ilias-Campochiaro, and these now-abandoned buildings are grouped around a rectangular town square. They comprised a Roman Catholic church (now Greek Orthodox), a school, shops, municipal services, medical facilities and a cinema.
