Much of the rust has been cleaned up, and the wood strips oiled with mineral oil, but the interior was lined with linen that had mildewed and decayed, so I removed it. Construction is canvas over thin wood strips. Drying out now. Trunk has an old sticker that says "Collect (fees) at destination."

Lots of holes, which I patched with electrical tape. We didn't know that it had any historic significance, but Fred says that it was used a few decades ago, to explore some inland lakes! Ha. Everything has a story.
