Gothic style was popular in the early 1700's. Next to the lake, lay two stone coffins or sarcophagi placed there by the owner William Danby. The sarcophagi are of Roman origin.

Monolithic sarcophogi of Roman origin carved out with curved sides, 1 with flat bevelled lid, the other having triangular-sectioned lid hipped at one end. A semicircle of large random-lain stone surrounds the coffins.
