We arrived to this remote backcountry valley in the late afternoon. Unfortunately the cabin on the right side of this panorama had already been occupied. After some wandering I found this hill which overlooked the whole valley. It had an even better view than the cabin! The night was cold but the sunset and sunrise made it worthwhile.

A 14 mm lens enabled double star trails over my campsite at Bighorn Plateau, which is on the John Muir Trail in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. The campsite was pretty, but we were disappointed to discover the pond was full of bug larvae and therefore undrinkable. I bribed my hiking partner to hike 2.5 miles and get drinking water for us with a battery charge.

Sedona's Mitten Ridge sits below the Milky Way with a blooming agave spicing up the foreground. The landscape portion of this scene was taken during the blue hour, while the night sky was taken approximately two hours later (with the camera remaining on the tripod) and masked in via photoshop.
