During lockdown I re-discovered a CD of videos from a trip to Tibet in 2004. Although the quality isn't very good, as the camera was a bit primitive, the gap in time gives these short films an interest which overcomes the shortcomings.

The payment of a hefty fee (more likely a bribe, no questions asked) allowed us to follow the track from Everest north base camp towards advanced base camp on a day trek. The track is a constant stream of supplies being portered up to ABC, mostly by yak.

During lockdown I re-discovered a CD of videos from a trip to Tibet in 2004. Although the quality isn't very good, as the camera was a bit primitive, the gap in time gives these short films an interest which overcomes the shortcomings.

About 40 miles north of Everest our expedition was holde up for the day waiting for the support vehicle which was stuck at the border with Nepal. I decided to climb this hill which was more or less of Scottish proportions but at a starting height of 4,000m was probably more or less 5,000m in height. As it turned out, I didn't quite reach the summit as a sandstorm appeared in the distance and I beat a hasty retreat before being totally enveloped in a cloud of red dust.

The first frames show Everest and its neighbours to the south then panning round to the west and finally looking northwards.
