Once a blue moon I break my rule of not uploading videos. In fact I believe I have only ever uploaded two previously.

Since my old laptop failed I have spent quite some time recovering photos and files. Amongst these were a few that had previously slipped through the net. So here's an exception to my video ruling in the form of a short clip taken by Mark back on 1st December 2012. I make a distant brief appearance right at the end of the clip.

For only the second time on my Flickr stream I have uploaded a video.

For those with a little patience this 360 degree panorama should give a full impression of what it is like to reach a summit in the Scottish Highlands in glorious spring weather. I say glorious, it was on the summit but en route we had to work through some pretty extraordinary snowfall.

My pal Stu shot the video and the two hikers shown are Mark (also taking photos) and myself (kneeling in the snow).

I have made an excetion to my preferance of still photography and uploaded this one video clip. It was taken of me by my hiking pal Mark last week during the ascent of Beinn Mhanach. The reason for uploading the video is that I feel it captures the conditions much better than a still image. Suffice to say it was a battle aginst the elements and the conditions worsened the further progress we made on this climb.

Why do I put myself in such possitions? Apart from a love of nature in all its forms hikes like this allow me to immerse myself in a world so far from the day to day existance where I and most other people live.
