Last Friday I spend a thoroughly enjoyable day out on the Lakeland hills in awful weather. It just didn't stop raining from start to finish. The quality of the company made the day much more enjoyable than it might have been.

Both Jamie and twiggy are seen here on the higher slopes of Whiteside. They are in the process of taking pain relief tablets as they were both suffering with painful knees. Given the weather Jamie should have been suffering with frost bitten legs, but that's another story.

The weather was that bad this was the only photo I took all day whilst out on the hills. I do have a small number of mobile phone photos but they don't really show the conditions too well.

I guess in the UK we have a peninsular known as Lands End, which it just about is as far as we are concerned. In Argentina they have this location which is just about as far south as Argentina goes. My concern with this terminology though is that immediately to the right of this view is a large expanse of land and islands that form part of Chile. Right in this instant is south as well, so the use of the term "The End of the World" isn't really true.

Stepping away from my pedantic nit picking this location is glorious and just how the end off the world should look.

The South American version of the Red Fox. A few days earlier, further north we also came across a Chilla which is known as a Gray Fox.

The Culpeo has been know to attack sheep and for that reason it is hunted in some areas. It has a range down the western side of South America from Columbia to the tip of Chile.

This example was seen scurrying across a meadow quite some way from us. If briefly stooped allowing this photograph and then scampered into the foliage cover.

It looks as though something caught the attention of this Bar Tailed Godwit.

Photo taken whilst ion the way back from the Lake District after very wet day out on the hills. The RSPB reserver at Leighton Moss is a delight and offered. a great deal of variety.

The Bar Tailed Godwit is a bird that has seen a serious decline over recent years. Thankfully though the Morecambe Bay still remains a stronghold.

The 1969’s built NCA operated EMD locomotive 6596 is dwarfed by the modern tower blocks of Buenos Aires business district. I wonder how long that scruffy rail yard will be able to resist the march of further property development. The yard must be worth a fortune in real estate terms.
