Barmouth Bridge or Barmouth Viaduct is a Grade II* listed single-track wooden railway viaduct across the estuary of the River Mawddach near Barmouth, Wales. It is 900 yards long and carries the Cambrian Line. It is the longest timber viaduct in Wales and one of the oldest in regular use in Britain.

Cadair Idris or Cader Idris is a mountain in the Meirionnydd area of Gwynedd, Wales. It lies at the southern end of the Snowdonia National Park near the town of Dolgellau. The peak, which is one of the most popular in Wales for walkers and hikers, is composed largely of Ordovician igneous rocks, with classic glacial erosion.

Cardiff is the largest city in Wales established in 1905 but wasn’t made the capital of Wales until 1955. The union of England and Wales in 1536 led to the creation of the shire of Glamorgan, and Cardiff was made the county town. In the early 1800s, John Crichton-Stuart, 2nd Marques of Bute spent his life building the Cardiff docks and would later be dubbed the Father of modern Cardiff. The town grew rapidly from the 1830s onwards, when the Marques of Bute built a dock, which eventually linked to the Taff Vale Railway. The town grew at a rate of nearly 80% per decade between 1840 and 1870. At the age of 22, my grandfather, Franklin Walter Locke (b. July 2, 1895) saw service in the First World War, being drafted in Seattle, Washington. These postcards came from a scrapbook he assembled during that time of his life.
