Built in 1790, Webb House was built by Dr. James Webb as a schoolhouse. North Carolina's first Governor Burke's daughter, Polly Burke taught school there for decades. Thomas Webb built east and west wings for the house in 1800, which remained in the Webb family until late in the 20th century. In more recent years, the house served as a bed and breakfast; as of April 2018, the bed and breakfast ceased operation. Located at 117 East Queen Street in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

While the Appalachian Mountains stretch from Canada to Alabama, the cultural region known as Appalachia refers specifically to the land that stretches between the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia to the Great Smoky Mountains rising along the Tennessee-North Carolina border. The area is noted for great scenic beauty along with an abundance of natural resources.

The Black Mountains are a mountain range in western North Carolina, in the southeastern United States. They are part of the Blue Ridge Province of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. The Black Mountains are the highest mountains in the Eastern United States. The range takes its name from the dark appearance of the red spruce and Fraser fir trees that form a spruce-fir forest on the upper slopes which contrasts with the brown (during winter) or lighter green (during the growing season) appearance of the deciduous trees at lower elevations. The Eastern Continental Divide, which runs along the eastern Blue Ridge crest, intersects the southern tip of the Black Mountain range.

There's nothing quite as lovely as the mountains of North Carolina in the fall.
