Architect Yehuda Lavee designed the Modernist style Baldwin Gardens in 1962. Lavee was born in Jerusalem on July 20, 1922. Asa child he showed a talent for drawing and design. After meeting publisher John Entenza, he served an apprenticeship with Richard Neutra. After graduating from NYU he became a partner with architect Aaron Green, an association that lasted for more than 50 years. He died on May 24, 2012.

Architect Miller Fong (born Yee How) designed the contemporary house for his parents, Chinese immigrants Danny Ho Fong (aka Ho Ming Fong) and Fauk Sook Muey Fong in 1969. The family immigrated to the United States from Nanhai, Guangdong, China, arriving at San Pedro harbor on July 20, 1937. In Los Angeles the Fong family operated an import business while Miller Fong attended the University of Southern California School of Architecture.
