Osprey, El Dorado Regional Park, a few years ago. I love osprey. They have in my mind a remarkable manner of carrying their catch to the food table. This one is not quite there in the two-taloned "fish-boarding" position. Sure shows off the talon, though.

This image is really cropped - probably a fourth the size of the full frame or perhaps even less. I am amazed at the resolution of my 5D Mark III. And, frankly, the osprey is amazing too.

I don't know how these birds do it. This was very close to shore and I popped off a bunch of frames as it hit the water and came up with the fish (some focused some not). It's actually on the up here - it was clearly lower in the water in the preceding shots - like it's reaching down for the fish while keeping the wings above water. Absolutely AMAZING. If you can't find the fish, I marked it with a note - the silvery thing that looks like a knife sticking up...

I wasn't ready for this - probably not more than 50 feet from this blue heron, browsing the horizon with my 600mm focal length when "splash", it made a catch. I was lucky I had a second body and shorter lens so, after popping off a couple with the big glass, I quickly grabbed the other body, relocated for a more frontal position, and got a more traditional shot before the fish went down the hatch...
