First off, I am in San Diego. I have run on the beach with huge dogs. I have smelled "biomass." Today is going to be profoundly interesting, photo shoot in the morning, comic-con during the rest of the day. I should probably shower.

Second, thanks to all who chimed in yesterday, I'll respond to y'all in that post probably tomorrow or sooner, if I get a free moment. Digital vs. Film (if at all) is a question I constantly grapple with, and I do think it's an important question, in terms of how one achieves quality, the effort one puts into a shot, the qualitative differences between the two, the cultural cache involved, what's lost by going to a new form of the medium , what's gained.

Though in a few years, with the way the world tends to work, it may become increasingly moot.

Today we shoot, for tomorrow our film may die.

Uploading in the few minutes I have between waking up and Nerding Out.

Because I just can't help myself.

You know the story. Us on the beach, way too crowded up above, smelly homeless dudes all around us. But Carré's gorgeous, I got film in my camera. We're gonna make some magic if I have to kill every hobo in LA.

Completely surprised by how well this particular roll came out.

Also, FYI, I usually respond to everyone's comments by the next day, but that's gonna be damn near impossible until maybe Monday, so my apologies. I love doing it, but there's just not enough free time, what with the Venture Brothers panel, and the Spaced Panel, going to every panel Grant Morrison's at and waiting in line for the Joss Whedon Panel, and making sure my friend Dan doesn't get arrested for being INSANELY drunk.

If I don't talk to you (because I've been arrested or am sleeping with a girl dressed as an elf, or a fairy or wonder woman), you have a good weekend.

It's 2:15 in the morning. I've seen men pass out on their feet on the sidewalk, several girls do lapdances in the condo, partaken in free wine, bumped into and photographed Joss Whedon, carried a tattooed naked girl while dancing on a carpet, oh, and so much more.

So I should post this now, before things get crazy.

This shot was totally on purpose. I absolutely planned to have the advance wheel fuck up and make this happen.

Not an accident at all.

Oh, and right now girls with their boobs out are giggling in the kitchen.

So, yeah, gotta go.

Back in LA, after a hyphy weekend full of, well, almost everything.

Twin girls dressed as Edward Scissorhands and his lady.

GI Joe sneaking through a giant hallway.

Glasses thrown from balconies.

Friends found in bushes.

Getting kicked out of restaurants.

Nudity.

More nudity.

Lapdances with plush sharks.

Oh, and Polaroids. Many Polaroids.

But before all that, two things.

1. I shot one of my favorite models, Barbara, last week. A joy to work with, few things I'd rather do than stare at Barbara for an hour or two. So here ya go.

2. I am broke. Spent far more than expected down there. Rent? not exactly sure how that's getting paid. 3 rolls of film, can't afford to get those developed. And there's nudes on 'em!!!

Running about $300 short for the month.

And so if you'd like to buy a print, or an original Polaroid, that would sure be swell. Really swell. Save my ass Swell, in fact.

The Polaroids are one of a kind, definitely an investment, and the prints i'm selling in limited runs of 50, so there's only so long until they're unavailable.

Hit up my website, address available HERE, buy something. My landlord thanks you in advance.

Zoetica's a new friend, met her off this here interweb thingy. it's a continual delight to be able to meet people from Flickr, or the internet at large, have them be good people, hang out with them after the initial photo shoot. Zoetica and I don't necessarily see a lot of each other, but that's the beauty of the internet. We're able to keep in touch despite both of us having to work, or being busy or what have you. Little IMs now and again, a text here and there, a mocking twitter, an out of the blue phone call. All these little tentacles of connection carve out a the beginnings of a friendship, allow us, when our schedules coincide, to grab a meal at Roscoe's, or a Jamba Juice, the pleasantries of early meetings out of the way.

And so, as you're rocking and rolling out in Toronto this week, have yourself a swell birthday, Zo. I'm glad to know ya.
