1st February 2023 at the Royal Concert Hall (Strathclyde Suite), Glasgow.

Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.

Country: Britain - Scotland & Ireland. Style: Traditional Scottish Folk.

Lineup: Allan MacDonald (highland pipes/scottish smallpipes), Finlay MacDonald (highland pipes/whistle), Leonard Barry (uilleann pipes), Iain MacFarlane (fiddle), Ali Hutton (g).

This gig repeated one which took place at Piping Live! in 2022 and featured Allan MacDonald's compositions from his Moidart collection books (a mixture of traditional tune and his own). He is from Glenuig in Moidart in the West Highlands and is one of three brothers who are pipers (the others being Angus and Iain). The musicians he invited tp play with him included Leonard Barry from Tralee, Co. Kerry (now living in Sligo). I saw Allan MacDonald in 2006 (and also briefly as a guest artist in 2004). This was before I started taking photos at gigs and I have long awaited the opportunity to see him at Celtic Connections. I have photographed all three of Finlay MacDonald, Iain MacFarlane and Ali Hutton before. To view click on the musician's name in my tags.
