Miranda Rutter plays viola with the string quartet Methera (and before that was in the bands Jabadaw and Fika). In recent years she has concentrated on leading music workshops, including being a long time tutor with the National Youth Folk Ensemble. This concert presented a suite she composed with the help an EFDSS grant. It consists of new tunes inspired by bird songs, including those of the Skylark. Nightingale, Cuckoo, Chiffchaff and various Warblers. Before many of the tunes she played a recording of the song of the bird.
