Many thanks to Simon Hurwitz for the opportunity of photographing this (wild) youngster on his land in Norfolk.

Even though we only had a few seconds to view and photograph this Barn Owl I still feel incredibly lucky - by the next day she had gone and has now joined the two other owlets that have fledged from this site in 2024.

Simon does a huge amount for the conservation of owls and it has been a record year for successes with barn owls in the nest boxes he has put up across several counties. He's also been incredibly helpful with my tawny hide and no doubt I'll be leaning on his support once again as we seek to improve the potential nesting areas and CCTV coverage this autumn.
