This two minute exposure of Start Point lighthouse in Devon hides the wintery nature of the weather that day. The high winds were making conditions cold but thanks to some new winter gear I was able to keep shooting. Having taken a number of shots already I decided to get out the Lee Big Stopper to see what a long exposure would look like. I knew the sea would go all silkly but there was also a good amout of cloud about to make an interesting sky as well. The end result is much calmer image than the actual conditions!

Dawn and sunrise can be spectacular at Start Point on the coast of Devon. I've visited this spot a number of times and each time I see something different. I had already taken a number of photographs that morning and I was just about to pack up and leave when the rays of the morning sun started bursting through the clouds. These beams of light are known as crepuscular rays. It was a dramatic sight and I'm glad I stayed that bit longer.
