After a few spectacular sunrises this past week there were a few photographers down at the pier for the first morning of the weekend, but it was an average sunrise (not enough cloud around).

Ken Baker is a local professional sports and event photographer and supports the NBRFC.

Easter 2021 marks 100 years of the New Brighton Rugby Football Club and a special weekend was held with various games held on Friday and Saturday. After a family gathering (my sister and her husband are down in Christchurch visiting their daughter for the weekend) I managed to get to most of the second half of the final game, between the New Brighton senior side playing in a retro black strip against Linwood. Unfortunately New Brighton went down 17-12 in this game.
I never played club rugby (I played football/soccer instead) but Alastair played for New Brighton for about five seasons till a back injury forced an early retirement.

He avoided the "family gathering" and photographed both Saturday games,
