Young Pete here is not quite ready to be a day yet, but he wishes all of you dad's out there in Flickrland a "Happy Fathers Days".

Had some friends out to the rookerys' yesterday....hot as hell here is SW Florida, but we are just now getting some afternoon rain to help cool things off a bit.

The rookery's are winding down. Seems to be a little later in the season this year, but surprisingly enough there were several Woodstork nest that had 3 week old chicks. Most of the WS chicks are near fledging but you can see differences in the juveniles as to how old they are. Cattle Egrets are always the last to nest and there were many nest still with eggs in them.

About mid morning and after 4 bottles of water to help hydrate, I finally put the custom bimini top up and headed upriver for a leasure boat ride to cool off.

This baby Woodstork is cute/ugly at the same time. The next two images are what they grow into.

All three of these images were made from about 8-10 feet from the subjects.
