What a lovely week away we had, and I must admit, easier without Harbie! Included were a boat trip, day trips to towns, a castle, a National Trust house and the bonus was meeting up with a Flickr friend (Alan)! Here are a few photos to whet your appetite!!

This is the front garden at the cottage we stayed in for a week on the edge of Stratford-Upon-Avon. We had off-road parking and then you had to walk up the garden to reach the front door - very pretty! There was a small back garden but that was even smaller than our garden at home.
Waterloo Cottage was built sometime after 1815 and before 1821. The whole row of cottages were known as Waterloo Cottages originally but now only this one retains that name.
By the end of World War 2 the cottages were derelict. They were due to be demolished but luckily were rescued by a lady who repaired them all. Since that time most have had porches and/or kitchen extensions added, some have been completely renovated but nearly all have kept their original beams.

The cottage was a two-up-two-down type mid-terrace house with one main living room, with spiral staircase that we had to negotiate several times a day! although dogs are allowed in the cottage I'm glad we didn't bring Harbie. I can imagine him struggling to get upstairs but then panicking cos he couldn't get back down again! It's no place for wide people!! You can see through to the kitchen diner here. Beyond that was a tiny garden. With temperatures quite low for the time of year I expected to be chilly with that tiled floor, but actually it was quite cosy and we never felt cold there.

This was our living room for the week. You can see the attractive tiled floor and the entrance porch. The cottage was about a mile from the centre of the town.
