After we'd settled in our room in the Holiday Inn and freshened up a bit, it was time to go and get something to eat. This is the view from outside the Wetherspoons (The Ice Wharf) we had dinner in. We had wanted to go somewhere that wasn't part of a chain but we had limited time cos of the gig we were going to.

JJ and I took a walk around the area, starting at Camden Lock. The bridge you can see is in a lot of photos in Camden. If you look very closely at the bridge, you can see Zombiepunk, who visits the bridge every day.

Camden Town is famed for its market, a warren of fashion and curiosities by the Regent’s Canal. A haven of counter culture, the area is popular with tourists, teenagers and punks. The thriving nightlife scene includes live music in alternative clubs and old-school pubs, and major stars playing at the Jazz Cafe and the Roundhouse. Cafes bustle during the day. Nearby Regent’s Park has formal gardens and the London Zoo. Camden Lock is a small part of Camden Town, London Borough of Camden, which was formerly a wharf with stables on the Regent's Canal.

I fancied having a go at a drawing bird on a stone - a blue tit, in this case! I actually gave this to Mathew, who walks Harbie most Saturdays, but have since done another similar one for the garden.

Back at the beginning of April JJ and I had an overnight trip to London to see singer songwriter Griff (more about her later) at the Roundhouse. Whenever we've been to London for a gig I've suggested staying in London in a hotel - it can be done in a day but I think it would spoil the evening cos we'd be forever worrying about getting home. We found this Holiday Inn, about half a mile from the Roundhouse - perfect!

The hotel is in a great location, but although our room was spacious, of course we didn't have a view of the canal! Our window looked out over a courtyard, not worth photographing! (Who gets these rooms?!)
