Long Hair & Short Skirts - "The Times they were a-changin",
As the Bob Dylan song states "The Times They are a-changin" as youth (often anti-establishment) culture came to prominence during the mid-late 1960s with alternative American-British fashion particularly prominent amongst teenage boys and girls in Ireland. It was often a shock for the parents as their sons let their hair grow long and daughters wore mini-skirts as this photograph of the 1971 Leaving Certificate class from St. Brigid's Vocational School in Loughrea shows.
