Evening in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.

Shibuya Crossing is a famous intersection outside Shibuya Station, believed to be the busiest pedestrian crossing in Japan (maybe even the busiest intersection in the world, competing with the Times Square intersection in New York City and Dundas Square intersection in Toronto).
All traffic lights turn red at the same time in every direction, traffic stops completely and pedestrians surge into the intersection from all sides.
Large TV screens mounted on nearby buildings overlook the crossing, as well as many advertising signs.

Photo volunteer ("we'll take pictures free") taking pictures at the bronze statue of the famous Akita Inu dog Hachiko (1923-1935).
Shibuya, Tokyo. Japan.

'Chuken-Hachiko', Hachiko the faithful dog, is a national hero in Japan. He was known for his infinite fidelity and love to his owner, Eizaburo Ueno, a university professor. Several movies have been made about Hachi.
Every afternoon, Hachiko waited at the Shibuya train station in Tokyo until his owner returned from work - even after his tragic sudden death of cerebral hemorrhage while at work. For nine long years Hachiko waited perseveringly every day, untill his own death in 1935. This lifelong display of affection and loyalty has made Hachiko's story world famous.
The original Hachiko statue near Shibuya Scramble Crossing was made by Teru Ando in 1934 and after it was recycled during the war, a new statue was created in 1948 by Takeshi Ando, son of the original artist. Today it is a popular meeting point and photo location.
