Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) - José Antonio Valverde Visitor Centre, Doñana National Park, Spain

We stayed at Hotel Toruño, El Rocío. This a a great base, you can bird watch from the promenade over the La Madre de las Marismasis which is immediately outside the hotel (some rooms have views over it, before breakfast and then visit other local areas.

El Rocío is a great base to explore the Doñana National Park but is about 35km to the start of the access roads to the José Antonio Valverde Visitor Centre and another 30km from there.

I would maybe consider splitting the time between Isla Mayor to cover the eastern areas of the park and Brazo del Este and also stay at El Rocío.

Bird song - Nightingale

The grounds of the Quinta do Barranco da Estrada on the shores of Barragem de Santa Clara near Santa Clara a Velha, Alentejo, Portugal.

About 1.5 hours drive from Faro, this is the base for the excellent birdwatching tours organised by Birding in Portugal. The quinta trades under the name of Paradise in Portugal and is located in a tranquil location on the edge of a vast lake.

The terraced gardens provide endless areas for guest to find the perfect private chill-out area to enjoy the abundant bird and wildlife.

From the quinta numerous walks can be enjoyed.
