Agios Spiridon, Corfu (Κασσιόπη)

Agios Spiridon is a sandy beach in the northeast coast of Corfu with crystal clear waters and lush greenery. The views from the beach are amazing across the Corfu Channel to the town of Sarandä and mountains of Albania. Behind are views of Mount Pantokrator.

The beach has been awarded with a Blue Flag. You can hire sunbeds and umbrellas from a family that have been working the beach for many years. There are a couple of tavernas set back from the beach which you enjoy a pleasant lunch


Located between St Stephano and Kassiopi, on the north eastern corner of Corfu, Avlaki has a pretty, secluded shingle beach within walking distance of both. It's a relatively quiet beach with a couple of beach-side tavernas.

Hotel Le Grand Chalet, La Tremblade.

Sunset views over the pool and beach from Room 16.

This hotel is all about location. With direct access to the beach and far reaching views across the water to the Île d'Oléron. This was the place to stay if you want to enjoy a stunning sunset.

There is a waterside swimming pool and lawn overlooking the beach which is a lovely spot to relax.

The Room 16 was bright and clean with a comfortable bed, a separate WC and shower room, not the largest of room but being able to sit out on the balcony and watch the sunset was lovely. Air conditioning has been installed but we did not seem to get it to work - it was 28c and the room was very warm. The room also has a kettle with a couple of mugs, a small fridge and some water which was good.

We had dinner on the hotel terrace overlooking the beach and really enjoyed both the taste and presentation of the food. The views were stunning as the sun began to set.

Looking across the swimming pool to the hotel - these rooms all have sea views. Our room is above the doorway with a balcony painted green.

Le Verdon-sur-Mer - on the banks of the mighty Gironde River looking across towards Royan while waiting for the les Bacs Girondins (ferries)

At 13.05 we decided to join the queue for the 13.45 ferry crossing between Le Verdon-sur-Mer to Royan - they say you should arrive 30 minutes before departure. You cannot book and we wanted to ensure we got on the ferry, it turned out the ferry was full at the time of departure.

You pay at the kiosk on arrival it was €5 each for us and €37 for the car. They certainly pack the cars in very tightly and there is very little room to get out of the car.
They also unload very fast (we were still up on the deck when the ramp went down and our car was at the front!

The crossing took about 25 minutes, the weather was good so we sat on the open deck to enjoy the views. The river is pretty wide at this point but you get some great views as you arrive into Royan.

Early morning views from the front balcony of Les 12 de Larros, Gujan-Mestras, France over Port Larros - famous for its oysters.

Designed as 12 independent cabins in the tradition of the dozen oysters the cabins are designed to reflect the architecture of the local oyster cabins. Each has breathtaking views of the Bassin d'Arcachon to the front and to the rear views over an inland basin.

Unit 8 (Mika) is a fully equipped and extremely comfortable this 1 bedroom apartment has two terraces, a separate bedroom and open plan living area. We choose a first floor cabin which is definitely the best.

Gujan-Mestras is a commune in the Gironde in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine in south-west France.
