Now THAT is a Prairie Falcon! (as opposed to a Merlin, I mean)

A great 8 hour day of birding that included 3 different Bald Eagles, about a dozen Goldens, this PRFA, a teeny Merlin, a perhaps Sharpy, 3 possibly 4 different Ferruginous Hawks, 2 Burrowing Owls, another Roadrunner!, and as a capper - a Varied Thrush in plain view.

Canis latrans ochropus......We were amused by the fact that we found no roadrunners on our Hollister trip, but we did find Wile E. Coyote!

This very healthy looking male coyote took no notice of us, in our car. This photograph taken from the passenger side of the car leaning over the driver and out his window!
